Salsa is an 8-count dance that is thought to have first developed in Cuba. Many countries in the Caribbean and Latin America have their own style of salsa. The popularity of salsa grew in North America after a new fusion style was introduced and developed by Cuban and Puerto Rican immigrants in New York City. Our salsa beginner classes are a type of salsa known as salsa on1 or Los Angeles (LA) style salsa. We offer two levels. Level 1 is for those just learning the basic salsa steps and turns. Level 2 builds on the steps and turns learned in level 1, introducing more complicated sequences of movements and styling for follows. Sometimes, due to instructor availability, classes are a combination of level 2 (advanced beginner) and intermediate (level 3).
